A special place in Jon-Marc Creaney’s heart is reserved for Elder + Cannon’s recently departed footnote to Glasgow’s party drag, Sauchiehall Street.

“The Bank of Pakistan always seemed a strange building to me. Although Sauchiehall Street has nearly every architectural style one can think of at some point along its length I could never quite place it, probably post-modernist.
“Unfortunately it probably outgrew it’s use and was unsuitable for refurbishment due to is form and previous function. ”

These qualities have not gone unnoted in various architecture guides describing an ‘enigmatic, triangular patterned stone facade and marbled door surround open(ing) into a brilliantly lit interior with Egyptian detail and mastery of spatial effects.’ So regaled Central Glasgow, An Illustrated Architectural Guide, McKean, Walker and Walker.
