Iain Dawson of Ryder Architecture laments loss of his first major project: “The first building I worked on as the new office junior at Frank Burnet, Bell and Partners in the summer of 1986. The Architects were Robert McPhail and Iain Macrae. Demolished a few years ago now.
“I spent months stencilling up plans and title boxes, all in the days before CAD.
“The building apparently inspired a whole collection of white boxes from the Strathclye Architecture Students.
“The Press Bar wanted too much money to move so the building wrapped round it.”
