PFG Glass Centre

Site engulfed by big buildings and rising property values along the N1 Freeway. Originally built to act as iconic marketing centre for a glass manufacturer. Building deemed to small for it’s site in commercial development terms.Literally squeezed to death by highway fronting developmental pressure. Replaced with conventional, nondescript building with floor area many times that of the small, sculptural building.

Was built after an open competition that attracted 120 entries.

Won South African Institute of Architects Award of Merit in 1995 on completion.
